Set the Stage to Engage: Disney World Virtual Field Trip Math Lesson
I brought a little Get Your Teach On Magic into my classroom this past week. We went on a virtual field trip for kindergarten (or any grade) to Disney World to practice different math story problems. This is fun Virtual Field Lesson Plan to do in the spring. The students focused on showing their work and retelling the math story problems. We had an entire Disney themed day. I bought each student Minnie and Mickie Ears which I surprised my students with!
We started the day by playing Disney trivia (which I just used a YouTube video). This was a fun Community builder but they were also a great brain break throughout the day.
Then, we pretended to get on an airplane to Orlando. I created a PowerPoint that had different POV Disney World videos such as walking around the park and riding the rides. Then, I integrated math word problems using the students’ names throughout the PowerPoint and different scenarios.
The students had to solve the problems on their whiteboards and then justify how they knew to add or subtract.
The kids absolutely loved it and they were all super engaged. They did a great job solving the word problems. It was a fun way to start break!
